HI, I'M DREA!

Mom, wife, educator, and purveyor of this little corner of the internet called Vermilion Lane.

Tacky Pumpkins

These pumpkins are, literally, tacky. I used thumbtacks to come up with these fun designs for fall.
The whole project--three pumpkins and materials--was under $10.
So here's what you'll need:
* foam pumkins (I got mine at a dollar store)
* gold thumbtacks (dollar store again, one pack has 300 tacks!)
* gold spray paint
* black acrylic paint
* stencil (optional)
* 1 (16-ounce) disposable plastic cup
* newspaper or large plastic trash bag
Easy Directions:
Line an outdoor area with newspaper or a large plastic bag.
Perch your pumpkin upside down in a plastic cup. This will allow you to better spray the sides and bottom of the pumpkin.

Working in a circular motion, about 16 inches away, spray your pumpkin. (If you are using a different color spray paint on each pumpkin, set them far enough apart that the wind doesn't carry your paint to the wrong pumpkin.)
Allow the pumpkin to dry upside down for an hour, then turn it right side up, set aside the cup for later use and spray paint the top.

For the black and orange pumpkin, cut out a star stencil, jagged edge or any shape you like and tape it to the pumpkin. Using a soft sponge or old cloth, dab black paint in a thin first coat, then go back over it for a smooth finish a few hours later.

Allow all pumpkins to dry at least 4 hours
Hurray! It's time for the best part: Get creative with your thumbtacks, making unique patterns and fun shapes.

Finally, share on social media. Don't forget to mention that you came across the idea on Vermilion Lane. I can't wait to see what you design.
