Best Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Creamy buttery mashed potatoes are one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I love the addition of garlic cloves boiled along with russet potatoes, so yummy. This is the easiest recipe to get restaurant quality mashed potatoes in no time.

The ingredients are straight-forward and easy to find. I recommend using unsalted butter because you can control the sodium a lot better that way. Simply add salt to your liking:

Creamy Mashed Potatoes Recipe:
6 russet potatoes
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup 2 percent milk
1/4 pound unsalted butter (one stick)
2 cloves garlic
salt and pepper to taste (up to 1 teaspoon each)
Directions:
Peel potatoes and cut into 1 inch cubes
Cover cold potatoes with water in a large stock
Add whole garlic cloves into the water
Bring to a rolling boil on high heat
Turn heat down to medium/high and allow to potatoes to continue cooking at a low boil
Drain potatoes in a colander
Place potatoes back in warm pot (removed from heat) to allow steam to escape for ten minutes
Place potato ricer over large bowl, rice potatoes and garlic together
Mix in 1/4 stick of unsalted butter
Mix in 1/2 cup of cream and milk mixture
Continue stirring in milk and butter until mixture becomes velvety
Stir in salt and pepper to taste
Serve with any remaining butter
